Experience with Text iQ and Sentiment Analysis

Hi everyone,I’d like to hear about your experiences using Qualtrics' Text iQ for analyzing open-ended responses. In our case, we rely heavily on comments as one of our richest sources of qualitative insights.Has the built-in sentiment analysis been sufficient for your needs? Or have you found it necessary to complement it with external tools or manual coding to get a more complete understanding of the data?Any examples or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance.

Asking respondents to select 10 choices from a longer list?

Hi all. I am attempting to build a survey item where respondents would select their top 10 choices from a list of 37. Is that possible? I know I can use a rank order question and just ask respondents to rank their top 10 that way, but I feel like there is a cleaner approach. Ideally, I’d love for respondents to be able to drag and drop an item out of the list of 37 into a rank order list. Is that possible? Thanks in advance!

Product Choice Task

Hello,I want to create a question where participants can choose between 3 products. The presentation order of the products needs to be randomizable. There should be a total of 4 columns: the first one includes the attributes of the products, and the other 3 columns represent the products with their specifications (see image below). The first column should not be selectable, only the 3 to the right of it. I managed to set up a multiple-choice question in column format for choosing the 3 products, but I can't insert the first column (as it would be interpreted as a response option).  Can anyone help me figure out a solution to this problem?Kind regards and thanks in advanceLouis

Device Identifier - Does "Mobile" include tablets?

Hi! I’m trying to limit survey participants to those completing it on a computer, laptop or tablet. I don’t want the survey to be completed on a phone. If I use the Set Embedded Data /  DeviceIdentifier option, and then branch for those whose device type is “Mobile”, will this also exclude those completing it on a tablet? Thanks!

Trying to use AI to generate/create a QSF

Looking at AI to help with constructing a survey and it’s very helpful. When I’m done, I asked it to create a QSF of the survey so I could upload it to Qualtrics. Unfortunately, the handoff wasn’t clean. I’m thinking it’s because the specifics for Qualtrics are not static, they change occasionally and the AI may not be up-to-date. I think this because the AI actually has the option of saving the work as a QSF! In any case, I’m planning to provide a QSF to the AI and ask it to match/use it as a template. And/or have it replace the questions in the QSF with the questions it generates for me. What does anyone/everyone think? Has anyone already solved this riddle?

How to see digital intercept revision history

We have digital intercepts (popups, feedback buttons, etc...). Today they say “Active...with unpublished changes.” Nobody remembers making any changes. Is there a place to see what changes are unpublished and who made them?

Cant see translated labels in Dashboard, evemif they are visible in the file for translation

Hi team,  We added a translation of labels in our EX Engagement Dashboard, and it only took partially the name of sources in the translation. Even if we see in the file all translated fields, they dont reflect in the dashboard.We tried uploading the file more times, but it doesnt refresh the data. Is there some advice for this?  Thank you Livia B

Complex quotas - terminate if the respondent doesn't fit

Hi there! I hoping someone might be able to help! We sent out a national survey and now we are looking to top up responses for some demographics where we are bit short.For this, we have set up 107 quotas and each quota has 3 variables: gender, age, and location. We want to terminate responses for two reasons - 1. the quota we set up is full, or 2. we never needed any in the first place so didn't set up a quota. For example, we have quotas for:Living in greater sydney, 18-24 years old, female (let’s say we want 70 more responses) Living in greater sydney, 25-34 years old, female (let’s say we want 8 more responses) Living in greater sydney, 65+ years old, female (let’s say we want 130 more responses)But we don’t have a quota for:Living in greater sydney, 45-54 years old, female because here we don’t want any responses because we have already got sufficient responses for this age group.If I test the survey and fill in as if I live in greater sydney, 46, and female - it still lets me take

Bug in overriding end of survey

Hi, is there a known bug in the “override end of survey” option in the survey flow?I’ve used it before so I know how to define it. I clicked on the “customize” option, I selected the message that I’d like to show, but when I hit “Save” I see that it ignored everything I had just defined (It also doesn’t show the little “v” next to “customize”). It’s like it closed the window without saving it.Help please?

Embedded App Feedback - Issue with populating XM Directory Contact Data in responses

Hi Qualtrics Community,I'm reaching out to seek some guidance on an issue we're facing with our Embedded App Feedback intercept integration.We recently followed the advice from Qualtrics Support to pass the user's External Data Reference in the initializeProject code. The connection with the Directory was successfully established, but we are still encountering problems with populating the XM Directory Contact data in the responses.Here's the specific code line we used for initialization:Qualtrics.shared.initializeProject(brandId: "xxx", projectId: "xxxxx", extRefId: "xxx") While this setup successfully links the ExtRefId with the Directory, we notice that the responses do not reflect the XM Directory Contact Data as expected. Are there any additional steps or configurations that we might be missing to ensure the data is correctly populated in the responses?Thank you in advance for your help! Sending workflow email after period of time according to survey input

Trying to find out if there is a way to set up a workflow to send an email a few months after a date specified in the response of the survey. The survey has a “date” field that respondents fill out, but this date may be different than the date in which the survey response is recorded (i.e., the date that triggers the workflow). Would it be possible to have the email task send an email at, say, one month after the date entered in the survey instead of the date of the response was completed? Or would this be impossible considering the date of survey response triggers the workflow in the first place? Thanks!

Workflow to automatically copy new responses to a second survey

Hi everyone,I’m trying to automate data export using the Qualtrics API in R (via qualtRics package). The issue is that I’m not the owner of the main survey, it was created by a collaborator at another university. Although they have given me full admin rights on the project, my API key still doesn’t allow me to export the responses via the API. The collaborators also don't have API keys of their own.As a workaround, I’m considering creating a Qualtrics workflow triggered on every new response, which would copy each response into a dummy copied survey that I own. That way, I could access the dummy survey using my own API key and connect it to a Shiny dashboard that shows the number of participants by country. However, I am having difficulties building that workflow. Would it be possible to do this on Qualtrics?

Filter - EX Heat Map Widget

Hi,I’m using the Heat Map Widget on my EX Pulse Dashboard.We have meanwhile several waves of feedback.The ‘breakout’ columns of the Heat Map Widget respect the page filter (e.g. data source = May wave). The first column (comparison column) does not respect the page filter. This leads to the situation, that the results across ALL WAVES are displayed in the first column.The explanation text in the widget configuration window states that this is “intended behaviour” (=all data sources will be used).My question:Is there any way to filter the Heat Map Widget by the data source?I only want the data from the May wave to be used in this widget.  Using the widget filter didn’t work either …Thanks!Manfred

I have a question in a survey that displays 20 choices with images and their respective captions, and the participant is supposed to select 10 options. However, the display window of the 10 chosen options is distorted, along with their respective image captions. how to resolve the formatting issue?

Assigned Block Order by Respondent

I am interested in assigning a specific block order to each respondent.I think I can do this with Branch Logic and Embedded Data, but I’m not entirely sure what commands to say in Qualtrics and in my uploaded Embedded Data. My example:There are 4 blocks.Rather than allowing the survey to randomize the blocks, I want to assign a specific block order to each respondent.At the start of the survey, a respondent will log-in with their ID (authenticator) and I’d have a file uploaded (I presume excel) that indicates what block order they see of the 4 blocks, based on their assigned ID. This gets triggered to then show the blocks in a specific order. All respondents see all 4 blocks, but in varying orders.

Hello to all,not new but not expert… I am trying to add conditioned piped text to an open comment questionThank you for giving us more insights on why you were not satisfied about PIPED TEXT= ALL STATEMENTS FROM A PREVIOUS QUESTION WHERE THE SCORE WAS BELOW 6It is not what I need but I found the option to pipe in the lowest scored statement but in case there is more than 1 statement with the same low score only 1 is displayed.  Any precious advice on this?I’ll keep browsing the community in the meantime TYA

Create quota based on scale variable

Hello. I am a newbie to Qualtrics.I am making a survey with an experimental and a control condition. One of my measurements are political views, using a slider from 0 (left-leaning) to 100 (right-leaning). The slider also has a not applicable option.My question: Can I create a quota based off that variable? I would like a roughly similar distribution of political views in experimental and control group; so say have one group of <= 50 (left to centre) and >= 50 (centre to right), and distribute those equally over the treatments. I figured out how to do that by adding a branch, but the problem is the ‘not applicable’ option because I cannot select it as condition.I would like to have the <= 50 OR not applicable; as well as >= 50 OR not applicable option. But I do not know how to implement that. Removing the ‘not applicable’ option is unfortunately not an option.

Help Needed: Field Editor Formula to Dynamically Adjust Average When Questions Are Skipped

Hi everyone,I’ve been struggling with this issue for hours and could really use help from someone who’s figured this out or knows if it’s even possible.I need help with a Field Editor formula in the Data & Analysis tab. I’m averaging multiple items under a construct (for example, 3 questions for “Self-Stigma”) and want the average to calculate correctly even if a participant skips one of the items. If someone skips a question, the formula should automatically adjust the denominator and average only the responses that were actually answered.Here’s what I tested: I used a custom formula like this:(Q1 + Q2 + Q3) / 3 When I unchecked the box labeled “Treat empty values as 0,” the entire formula returned a blank cell when even one of the questions was unanswered — no average was shown. When I checked the box, the formula did calculate an average, but it was wrong. For example, if the participant answered two of the three items with a total of 9 and skipped the third, it still divide

How to Link Out to a Blank Empty New Tab

Hi, I need to hyperlink text that will open in a new tab but also be blank. I tried editing the HTML to add <a href="about:blank" target="_blank">. But Qualtrics removes my code when I exit out of the question. I’m not open to linking out a website, I need to link out to a new tab and a blank page. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

Respondent is supposed to select 10/20 options in question 1. How to display only the selected 10 items in question 2. Question two is a matrix format question and and 10 selected items should reflect in the 10 columns of the matrix.

Preventing html names when exporting translation files

When exporting a translation file and my survey has html code, the exported file seems to have some issues with the character set:Certain character (like German ä, ö, ü) are only displayed through their html names, e.g. “ü”, instead of theire true unicode characters. The downloaded file contains weird downward arrows that (IMO) should not be there in the first place.Can someone please explain to me what’s going on there and how I can create a translation file with a true utf-8 character set?
